Has 2006 Been a good career year? - 2007-01-08

2006 was a year of development, both mentally and environmentally.


2003 - The step towards serious web development.

I've been messing with various home sites dating back a few years but this year me, my friend Joacim and my brother Kristoffer is busy developing our "djupet.se" (which roughly translates into "thedeep.se"). Djupet was our first big project, it's a portal/community for swedish people and it included a lot of programming, hence started our career in web programming.

We developed the community for quite a while and learned a lot from it, the project it self took much time from our regular school duties since we worked on it instead o doing our homework, but looking back from 2007 it's obvious it was more important than any studies.

2004 - The beginning.

In late 2004 I read about a newly started IT-Cafe with only macs, named Pixel Palace, since I'm a bit of a mac freak my self and their website wasn't too beautiful, I decided to help them build a better one, which I did and that turned out to be a great move since it was the beginning of a cooperation that would turn out to be very important to both med and Pixel Palace.

A newly formed cafe isn't precisely rich so I did a lot of work for free, in fact; I still do. But you can't begin your career by charging a lot of money. All the free work rewarded it self though, through Pixel Palace did I not only get new web jobs to practice on, I also got a lot of good contacts.

2005 - The year of preparation.

2005 was basically about preparing for starting my own business, I worked a lot with Pixel Palace and started to work with Pontus which was in need of a Content Manage System so I built one.

I learned a lot by doing web jobs through Pixel Palace, and in december I sent my application to register my own business "LutzDesign", with the help from another contact I made through Pixel Palace. (It's quite complicated in sweden...).

2006 - The year where it all happen.

During the christmas and new year, me and my brother Kristoffer developed a new better Content Management System based on the Ajax technic to use on sites we develop and too better aid Pontus needs. The Content Management System is not just used on many of my own projects and clients but also on a few of Pontus clients to this date.

I started working on LutzDesign two month into the year with small various clients, things progressed at a fairly slow pace but did progress. I made a goal to make an amount of money the first year. Did I make it? Almost! While I did not complete my goal fully, I did start a lot of new project which will pay off during 2007 so I'm happy with the result. The important thing is that i've got more and more work as the month progressed, the curve is pointing upwards so to say. I will succeed with my business for sure!

In late 2006 I had worked with my friend Joacim on Pontus project alltforbarn.se a while, as it took up a lot of our time and things looked good I decided to ask Joacim to join me when he quit one of his jobs instead of doing the other job full time, and our common company Gravita was born. Gravita is set to play out in 2007.

What will happen in 2007?

I've worked hard with LutzDesign during 2006 to gain contacts and future jobs and I've done well! I expect 2007 to be a year where I not only work for a better 2008 but also where I harvest the fruits of 2006. Gravita will for sure grow into a company which both me and Joacim can rely on in the future. I expect 2007 to be even greater than 2007.
